Dental Root Elevator
A dental root elevator is a surgical instrument used by dentists and oral surgeons to loosen and remove teeth or roots from the alveolar bone (the part of the jawbone that holds the teeth). Elevators are an essential part of dental extraction procedures and are designed to facilitate the extraction of teeth that are difficult to remove with forceps alone.

The Dental Root Elevator Fig 4R Seldin is a specialized dental instrument used primarily for the extraction of upper and lower molar roots on the right side of the mouth. Part of the Seldin series of elevators, it is specifically designed to provide effective leverage and precision during the removal of roots, particularly in difficult-to-reach areas
- Molar Root Fragment Removal: The primary function of the Fig 4R Seldin elevator is to assist in the removal of root fragments from molars, which are difficult to access after a tooth has been partially extracted or fractured. Its curved blade helps elevate root pieces from the alveolar socket with ease.
- Loosening Teeth: The elevator is used to luxate (loosen) molars from their sockets before extraction. By applying controlled pressure between the tooth and the bone, the Fig 4R Seldin can break the periodontal ligament and loosen the tooth, making it easier to remove with forceps.
- Difficult Extractions in the Right Quadrant: The Fig 4R Seldin is particularly effective for removing upper and lower molar roots on the right side of the mouth. Its angled blade design allows for greater reach and leverage in areas that are harder to access with standard straight elevators.
