Dental Root Elevator
A dental root elevator is a tool used by dentists and oral surgeons to aid in the extraction of teeth. It is designed to loosen a tooth from the periodontal ligament and surrounding alveolar bone, making it easier to extract.

It is designed to aid in loosening the tooth from the surrounding periodontal ligament and bone, making extraction easier and less traumatic.
- Tooth Luxation:
- The Fig 6 Loos elevator is primarily used to luxate (loosen) teeth before extraction. By inserting the blade between the tooth and bone and using a rocking motion, it helps break the periodontal ligament and expand the socket, making the tooth easier to extract.
- Root Tip Removal:
- It is particularly useful for removing root tips and fragments that remain after a tooth has been partially extracted or if the tooth has fractured. The curved blade helps reach and dislodge these small, hard-to-access pieces.
- Sectioned Tooth Removal:
- In some cases, a tooth may need to be sectioned or split for removal (e.g., multirooted teeth). The Fig 6 Loos elevator can be used to elevate the individual sections of the tooth.
