Dental Root Elevator

A dental root elevator is a surgical instrument used by dentists and oral surgeons to loosen and remove teeth or roots from the alveolar bone (the part of the jawbone that holds the teeth). Elevators are an essential part of dental extraction procedures and are designed to facilitate the extraction of teeth that are difficult to remove with forceps alone.

Fig 1R Seldin

The Dental Root Elevator Fig 1R Seldin is a specialized tool used by dental professionals for the extraction of upper and lower molar roots. Part of the Seldin series, this particular elevator is designed with a unique blade shape and size to provide precise leverage

  • Root Fragment Removal: The primary use of the Fig 1R Seldin elevator is for the removal of root fragments left behind after the extraction of molars. Its broad, rounded blade allows it to be inserted into the socket, where it can engage and elevate root pieces out of the alveolar bone.
  • Molar Extraction: This elevator is particularly useful for loosening molar roots before the final extraction with forceps. The leverage provided by the Fig 1R Seldin elevator helps in breaking the periodontal ligament, allowing for easier removal of the molar root.
  • Luxating Teeth: In some cases, the Fig 1R Seldin can also be used to luxate (loosen) molar teeth before extraction. Its broad blade provides sufficient leverage to dislodge molars from their sockets while minimizing trauma to the surrounding bone and tissues.
